Painting
— Sonder —
This series of paintings is inspired by the neologism, Sonder, coined by John Koenig in 2012. By definition, Sonder is the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own — full of their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and sorrows — an epic story that unfolds invisibly around you.
Inspired by the experiences of others, the frame of each painting becomes a life-sized looking glass into someone else’s world.
Each work is created on paper with handmade paint from charcoal, honey and clove essence.
