— Bronze Crows —
This sculpture consists of five bronze crows that began more than a decade ago in the Tantramar Marshes, an area straddling the border between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia on the east coast of Canada. Inspired by the land and its wildlife, the crows mark a period of personal change and transformation — the end of one life and beginning of another.
In 2006, the crows were acquired by Thaddeus Holownia — internationally-renowned visual artist, teacher, letterpress printer and publisher. These photographs are taken by Thaddeus between 2011-2021 at his farm and studio in Jolicure, New Brunswick.

“I truly believe that what we put into the world lives on beyond its creation, and am interested in how art adapts through time and context — which is why the artistic exchange between Thaddeus and me has been one of my greatest honours as an artist.

The work was meant to be eternal from the beginning. Thaddeus’s photographs carry this out with great intention — as they portray the continuous flow of time, something that is endless and everlasting.”
